The
Institute for Therapeutic Discovery is
a not-for-profit research organization whose mission is to
discover and evaluate therapeutic agents that arrest or reverse
chronic diseases in humans and animals. Successful product
candidates will be licensed out for full clinical testing and
commercialization by pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies.
This approach continues to yield laboratory, pre-clinical,
and commercial
successes.
The unique characteristics of these therapeutic agents include:
- Comprised of naturally-occurring molecules;
- Low-dosage efficacy;
- Few, if any, adverse effects.
A highly effective discovery and early-stage evaluation process includes:
- A diverse and dedicated network of medical professionals;
- A low-overhead business model;
- A proven track record of success.
Envisioning a substantial reduction for both medical and societal costs in treating chronic diseases, and an increase in patients’ quality-of-life, the Institute was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization specializing in discovery and early-stage development of therapeutic agents. By charter, the majority of all monies go directly to research, and so to discovery, rather than to increase shareholder value. In partnership with physicians, scientists, and the public, this profile allows the Institute to move medicines into formal clinical evaluation in less time and with less money than a for-profit pharmaceutical company requires.
Its not-for-profit status also requires that it either make available the results of its research in published form, or license its technology to established pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or biotech companies in order to complete the clinical evaluation and commercialization of the products. The end result is that people from all walks of life may be better served as the Institute is poised to help provide a more rapid resolution to major health problems.
